Ben Alder

Since 1997, the focus of Ben’s career has been in the natural resources field. During his studies at The George Washington University, he completed bachelor's degrees in environmental science and biology and completed course work for his Master of Arts in Environmental Resource Policy. Following this experience, he worked on Capitol Hill on a range of issues related to wetland conservation for Ducks Unlimited. Ben’s tenure with DU expanded to the field when DU’s Chesapeake Bay Initiative was started in 1998. Ben’s experience working with land use, agricultural management and wildlife conservation has provided a unique platform for his land brokerage practice today. In 2011, he started building what is today The Land Group. To date, Ben’s brokerage experience over the last 18 years has involved him in more than 100,000 acres of transactional land brokerage. Today, Ben and his family live on a historic farm along tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay in Somerset County, Maryland.

Jesse Highling

Born and raised in Frederick County, Jesse’s passion for the outdoors and sustainable land practices has shaped his career from the very beginning. Starting in the agriculture industry, he gained hands-on experience in dairy and poultry farming, row crop production, nutrient management applications, and Non-GMO grain sales. This practical foundation gave Jesse a firsthand understanding of sustainable practices, which carried into his next professional chapter.

Now residing in Easton, Jesse took on a pivotal role in the launch of a startup hunting brand. His leadership in this venture included building strategic relationships with major outdoor brands and conservation organizations, positioning the brand as a respected player in the industry. Through his efforts, Jesse has become known as a connector within the outdoor and conservation communities.

Will Fehrenbacher

Will grew up in Queen Anne’s County where he acquired a fundamental understanding and respect for our landscape through hunting and fishing. He graduated in the Spring of 2022 from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies. While not at school during the winters, Will spent his days guiding waterfowl hunts across the Eastern Shore. His experience in the outdoors has driven him to understand our region from both an ecological and economic perspective.

Will began his career with The Land Group as an intern during his junior year and is now working full-time as TLG’s Land Technician. He specializes in identifying land values by studying sales data across the tri-state area, performing GIS tasks, conservation consultation, and many other roles where he can offer significant contributions.
